Humshaugh Community Solar

The Humshaugh Community Solar project is a community-owned renewable energy initiative developed for the parish of Humshaugh in Northumberland. Set on a one-hectare site of previously poor-quality farmland near Lincoln Hill, it will comprise around 2,000 ground-mounted solar panels and a 1 MW capacity expected to export roughly one million kWh of clean electricity per year — the equivalent of powering many local homes and reducing around 217 tonnes of carbon emissions annually.

The website redesign emphasised this strong community and environmental identity: I built a responsive and accessible platform with sections to describe the share-offer structure, project information, FAQs and contact forms for investor enquiries. The site was optimised for search (SEO) to ensure the initiative appeared in key search terms around community energy and local solar investment. Clear calls to action and easily manageable backend tools allow the HCSL team to update news items and tender invitations as the project progresses.
