Humshaugh Net Zero (HNZ) is a community-led initiative based in the parish of Humshaugh (Northumberland) that aims to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2030. The website redesign was created to reflect HNZ’s mission: providing accessible information, tools and support for local residents and businesses in areas like heat pumps, electric vehicles and solar energy.

We developed a responsive and user-friendly site built around multiple features: a carbon-calculator to help households assess their emissions; detailed sections on low-carbon technologies (heat pumps, EVs, solar); membership and newsletter sign-up functionality; and clear calls-to-action for community engagement in the forthcoming solar farm and energy-trial projects. We also implemented SEO best-practice to support visibility for the site’s content on community energy and local renewables. The result is a website that supports HNZ’s role as a local catalyst for climate action and community-based energy innovation.
